Price Matching Tool πŸŽ₯
Updated over a week ago

The price matching tool has been designed to help with the setup of your machines and materials by analysing your current pricing and the geometry of your example parts.

To begin you need to gather 10 model files, ideally of varying complexity, size and price. For 3D printing technologies, .STL files will be fine. To allow full analysis of features in CNC machining, we'll need .STEP files.

You will also need the prices for these parts for 1 off, and 1 if 10 of were ordered (usually a little cheaper).

Check out the video below for an explaination of the process and follow the steps to begin setting up your pricing

Below are two options to launch the price matching tool based on if you are setting up a new machine and material or changing the pricing of an existing machine and material.

Existing Machine & Material

  • Find the machine that you would like to modify pricing for in you machines and materials list. Click on it to show the materials assigned to it.

  • Next, find the material you want to modify pricing for and click the price matching icon.

  • Click it to open the price matching tool.

*NOTE*

The price matching tool will set pricing for both the material and machine. If you have some pricing already set that you are satisfied with, we suggest duplicating the existing maching before running the price matching tool.

New Machine & Material

  • Create a new machine by clicking the Add machine button on the Machines & Materials Page.

  • Select the technology

  • Then select from the pre-set machines or create a new machine by typing the name and pressing enter.

  • You then input the minimum and maximum part size you are able/willing to printand if you require drawings when a customer uploads a model.

  • Make sure Automatic Pricing is selected and then type the name off the material you want to create.

  • Click go to automatic pricing to launch the Price Matching Tool

You will then be taken to the price matching tool where you can begin uploading your parts and inputting your current pricing.

*Note*

Pricing should be for the manufacture of the parts only and should not include post processes like sanding, painting, anodising etc.

Startup costs and programming costs should be included in the price and the specifications for the parts must all be the same. (layer height, infill, tollerance level etc.)

When the price matching tool has loaded. You need to first upload your model to that we can begin analysing the geometry of the parts.

Drag and drop or browse for your chosen files Once added the price matching tool will automatically begin analysis.

Once analysed, the parts will be listed with a space to add the price for 1 off and the price for 1 if 10 off were ordered (usually cheaper).

When you have input all the prices, click start matching. The price matching tool will then look for a correlation between your part geometry and the prices you have supplied. For example a part with a large volume that is more expensive than a part with a small volume.

Once the price matching tool has completed it's calculations, the result will be shown in the form of a table and a bar chart.

You can then make adjustments to the automatic figures to refine the reulsts. The resulting changes will be shown in the bar chart and table to help guide you with your descision. Hovering over the bars will also show your original pricing and the price generated by DigiFabster.

When you are happy with the results, click the 'accept values' button at the bottom of the page to apply these parameters to your selected machine and material. If you want to reset the values and begin adjusting from the start, click the 'reset to initial' button.

To add additional machine and material options, you can now repeat this process to generate a new pricing algorithm, or you could duplicate the newly priced machine or material and make small modifications to the parameters.

To duplicate, find the machine or material you want to copy and click the duplicate button. This will create a copy where you can then modify the name and paramaters.
